The Blair Witch Project: il libro del 1809

Sì, lo sai che lo avevi detto: con questa cosa qui avresti concluso le tue avventure nella Foresta di Blair. Si ricorda tuttavia ai gentili lettori che questo è il tuo blog e qui il tempo e lo spazio li comandi tu quanto e meglio delle Strega di Blair. E poi hai trovato nell'Internetto qualcosa di cui non potevi proprio non scrivere: alcuni passi del famigerato libro "Il Culto delle Strega di Blair" del 1809, cui hai fatto riferimento più volte in questo tuo minispecialino. Traduzione italiana gentilmente aggiunta. 

Curiosi? Si va. 

Il libro sarebbe stato dato alle stampe nel 1809 e la copia originaria sarebbe severamente danneggiata al punto che solo alcuni passi sono ancora leggibili. 

"It was testifi'd, That at the Examination of the Prisoner Kedward before the Magistrates, the Bewitched was extreamly tortured." 

E' stato testimoniato che, all'esame della prigioniera Kedward davanti ai Magistrati, la ritenuta Strega era stata estremamente torturata. 

". . .was the Shape of the Prisoner, which was whipped with Iron Rods, to compel her thereunto." 

...era la forma della della prigioniera, che era stata frustata con bastoni di ferro, per costringerla a farlo. 

". . .about Sun Rise, he was in his Chamber assaulted by the Shape of this Prisoner : which look'd on him, grinn'd at him, and very much hurt him with a Blow on the side. . .and. . .Shape walked in the Room where he was, and a Book strangely flew out of his Hand, into the. . . six or eight Foot from him." 

...all'incirca al sorgere del sole, egli era nella sua camera assaltato dalle forma di questa progioniera: che lo guardò, gli digrignò, e lo ferì davvero motlo con un colpo di lato...e...la forma entrò nella stanza in cui lui era, e un un libro stranamente volò via dalla sua mano, nel...6 o 8 piedi da lui." 

". . .he wak'd on a Night, and saw plainly a Woman between the Cradle and the Bed-side, which look'd upon him. He rose, and it vanished : tho' he found the doors all fast. . .he saw the same Woman, in the same Garb again ; and said, In God's Name, what do you come for? He went. . .The Child in the Cradle gave a great Screech, and the Woman disappeared. Blood was. . ." 

...egli camminò durante una notte, e vide chiaramente una donna tra la culla e il lato del letto, che lo scrutava. Egli si alzò e scomparve; nonostante sigillasse le tutte le porte velocemente...egli vide la stessa donna, nello stesso abbigliamento di nuovo; e disse, nel nome di Dio, per che cosa tu vieni? Egli andò...il bimbo nella culla emise un grande suono stridulo, e la donna scomparve. Sangue era... 

". . .with the doors shut about him, he saw a black Thing jump in at the window, and come and stand before him. The Body was like that of a Monkey, the Feet like a Horse, but the face much like a Man. The Day after, upon inspection, Hair of Horse lay in. . ." 

... con le porte chiuse davanti a lui, egli vide una cosa nera saltare dentro dalla finestra, e arrivare, e stargli in piedi davanti. Il corpo era come quello di una scimmia, i piedi come un cavallo, ma la faccia alquanto come un uomo. Il giorno dopo, ispezionando, crini di cavallo stavano lì... 

". . .did in the holes of the said old Wall, find several Poppets, made up of Sticks and Rags and Hogs-bristles, with headless. . ." 

...fece nei fori del muro già menzionanto, trovò molte bambole dall'aspetto umano, fatte di bastoncini e stracci e setole di maiali, con senza testa... 

"being drawn up, according to the Form in...pleading, Not Guilty..." 

Essere riconosciuta, in accordo con l'accusa in...supplica, non colpevole 

"That the Shape of the Prisoner did oftentimes very grievously Pinch them, Cloak them, Bite them, Prick them with Pins and Bleed them..." 

che la forma della prigioniera molte volte li pizzicava molto dolorosamente, li avvolgeva, li mordeva, li pungeva con spilli e li faceva sanguinare... 

"That it was Elly Kedward, or her Shape, that grieviously tormented them, by Biting, Pricking, Pinching and Choaking them." 

Che era Elli Kedward, nella sua forma,, che li tormentava dolorosamente, mordendoli, pungendoli, pizzicandoli e soffocandoli. 

"This poor Child is Bewitched ; and you have a Neighbour living not far off, who is a Witch." 

Questo povero bambino è stregato; e tu hai una vicina che vive non tanto lontano, che è una strega. 

"...but besides this, a Jury of Women found a preternatural Teat upon her Body : But upon second search, within 3 or 4 hours, there was no such thing to be seen." 

.. ma parte questo una giuria di donne trovò un capezzolo sovrannaturale nel suo corpo: ma dopo una seconda ricerca, dopo 3 o 4 ore, non c'era alcuna cosa del genere. 

"...that she had seen the prisoner at...and that it was this Kedward, who persuaded her to be a Witch. She confessed, that the Devil had Relations with Kedward and..." 

... che aveva visto la prigioniera presso...e che era questa Kedward che la convinse ad essere una strega. Lei confessò, che il Diavolo ha relazione con la Kedward e..." 

Da quel che ne puoi desumere si tratterebbe di estratti del processo condotto contro Elly con le trascrizioni delle deposizioni di alcuni testimoni. Interessante sembra l'ultima frase che pare riferirsi ad Elizabeth Styler, personaggio comparso nell'ultimo gioco ed alunna di Elly anche se il videogames stesso non dice assolutamente che lei testimoniò contro la sua mentore.
